Description
the Hye Market and Post Office. In 1905, Hiram G. (Hye) Brown opened his new general store and post office on this site. In 1966, the building became a Texas Historical Landmark.
Walk into the store and you’ll find the walls lined with craft beers and wines. There are coolers with soft drinks, gifts, and historical artifacts. Far cry from the store President Lyndon Johnson used to mail a letter when he was four and the same store he used to announce the appointment of Lawrence O”Brien as Postmaster Genreal in 1965.
Pull up a chair on the porch of this old general store and take in the world.
